Espo's Restaurant Catches Fire In Raritan, Closes Tuesday

The fire broke out just as the Italian restaurant was setting up for dinner service.

RARITAN, NJ — Beloved Espo's Restaurant & Bar caught fire in Raritan on Tuesday late afternoon.

At 3:23 p.m., Raritan Firefighters were called to fire at the Italian restaurant at 10 2nd St. in Raritan, said Raritan Fire Chief Brian Kredatus.

The fire was coming from the commercial grill inside and extended into the wall behind the grill, said Kredatus.

It took about 20 to 25 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Along with Raritan, firefighters from Somerville, Bradley Gardens, Country Hills, Finderne and Manville all helped to extinguish the fire.

The restaurant remains closed as of Tuesday night.

There were no injuries reported. The fire broke out just as the restaurant was setting up for dinner service.
