Somerville St. Patrick's Day Parade 2017: What You Need To Know

SOMERVILLE, NJ — Heading to the Somerville St. Patrick's Day Parade this Sunday? Here is everything you need to know before you go.

The parade will be held on March 12 at 1:30 p.m. and will run along Main Street in Somerville. The parade will begin on Main Street across from the Somerset County Courthouse and continue along Route 28, W Main Street up to West End Avenue where it will end at the corner of West End Avenue and Mountain Avenue.

In addition to the parking as outlined on the map below, the side streets north of the parade route also offer ample parking opportunities. In addition to the public parking lots downtown, the ‘Desapio Parking Deck’ is also open on parade day.

Bar service will begin at noon with specials being offered at Alfonso's, Central Pizzeria & Restaurant, Mannion's Irish Pub, McCormick's Pub and Verve.

Grand Marshal:

The 2017 Grand Marshal is John F. McCullagh.

Jack, like his wife Gwen, is a native of Dublin. A graduate of Synge Street CBS, he was active in Irish railfan circles and also served for nine years in An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil, the Irish Army Reserve Force, resigning his Lieutenant’s commission when relocating to the US.

He spent seven years with the American Automobile Association’s World Wide Travel Department before moving to Avis Rent a Car System, retiring in 1997 as Sales Administration manager for the North East Region.

Jack has just completed a two year term as President of the St. Patrick Division One, Somerset County of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and has been awarded the Division’s 2017 Hibernian of the Year, an award of which he is very proud.

Jack is a regular lector and occasional usher for his parish of St. Charles Borromeo in Skillman.
