Far Hills Country Day School Students Qualify for National Math Competition

FAR HILLS, NJ – Far Hills Country Day School (FHCDS) is proud to announce that seven mathletes qualified to compete in the national math competition of Mathleague.org.  The National Elementary Championship will be held in Houston, TX on June 7, 2014 at the University of Houston. The competition includes a combination of questions on Number Sense (80 problems that must be solved mentally), Sprint Round math (30 multiple choice), and Target Round math (4 pairs of problems requiring deep skills application and analysis). 

Qualifying students are:

Aakriti Caprihan, Maddie Rygh, Shelton Shieh - Grade 3
Jay Fu - Grade 4
Matthew Turner, Nate Rygh - Grade 5
Christopher Lin - Grade 6

FHCDS students qualified for the competition by their superior performance at both the local and state levels. For the national competition students competing individually must also have placed among the top 10 of all students competing at the state level.
