Hackettstown Woman Dies In Bridgewater Crash After Driving Wrong Way

An early morning car crash took the life of a 50-year-old Hackettstown woman who was allegedly driving the wrong way along Route 22.

An early morning car crash took the life of a 50-year-old Hackettstown woman who was allegedly driving the wrong way along Route 22 in Bridgewater on Monday.

According to Bridgewater Police, Sara Lee was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Route 22 around 2:44 a.m. when she struck 35-year-old Karen Facciponti’s BMW 328i with her Nissan Sentra.

Lee was pronounced dead around 4:20 a.m. at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, while Facciponti was treated for minor injuries and later released.

The accident caused the left and right lanes of Route 22 East, including the ramp from US 202-206 South, to close for about four hours as police conducted their investigation.
