Flood Warning, Roads Remain Closed Following Storm In Somerset County: Video

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A flood warning and road closures remains in Somerset County following torrential rains and thunderstorms on Sunday. (See video of flooding below)
Flood Warning
A flood warning issued by the National Weather Service(NWS) remains in effect until 12:45 p.m. on Monday, July 10.
"Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring," said NWS.

As of 8:45 a.m., the North Branch Raritan River at South Branch is currently at 9.38 feet above the 8-foot flood stage.
"Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," according to Somerset County Public Safety.

Road Closures
Additionally, many roads remain closed on Monday morning due to flooding including:
- The Opie Road Bridge in Hillsborough leading into Branchburg
- The Basilone Bridge and Lyman Street going between Raritan and Hillsborough
- The Blackpoint Road Bridge in Hillsborough (Update: Reopened)
- Old York Road between Bridgewater and Branchburg (Update: Reopened)
- Route 28 from Milltown Road in Bridgewater to Station Road in Branchburg
Downed trees have also closed roads in the area:
- Dock Watch Hollow Road in Warren between Blazer Road and Ferguson Road
- Hillcrest Road in Watchung (Update: Reopened)

The forecast for Monday does call for a chance of more rain:
Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Patchy fog between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 61. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
