Flood Watch In Effect For Somerset County Through Saturday
Residents who live along streams and rivers such as the Raritan and Millstone should be on alert through Saturday.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A flood watch has been issued for Somerset County until 6 a.m. on Saturday by the National Weather Service.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected within the next 72 hours with the highest totals along and south of the Interstate 78 corridor. Locally higher amounts are possible across the same area as thunderstorms are expected to periodically develop, according to the NWS.
Looking at the upcoming forecast, periods of light to moderate rain will continue Wednesday afternoon through Thursday with a brief break in the rain expected early Thursday evening.

However, rain is expected to intensify and become more widespread Thursday night with periods of moderate to heavy rain expected to continue into at least Friday, possibly into the weekend, according to the NWS.
Three types of flooding are expected as a result such as low-lying and poor drainage flooding; flash flooding; and flooding of larger streams and rivers.

Residents who live across the Passaic, Raritan, and Rancocas basins in New Jersey or the Neshaminy, Schuylkill, and Brandywine basins across Pennsylvania and Delaware should be on alert.
