Flooding In Somerset County: Closures, More Rain Ahead
A flood watch remains in effect for the county with more rain expected overnight and through the weekend.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Heavy rain overnight, coupled with the melting snow, has saturated the region in Somerset County, causing flooding.
Closures
The trails at Duke Island Park and Raritan River Greenway are closed due to flooding, according to the Somerset County Park Commission.

Multiple roads are also closed, including:
- Griggstown Causeway in Montgomery
- Blackpoint Road in Hillsborough, near the bridge at the Branchburg border
- Old York Road in Branchburg on the Bridgewater border
Drivers should never drive through standing water and should always turn around.

Flood Warning
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for Somerset County through 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain fell overnight.
Local Rivers
The North Branch Raritan River at South Branch reached 8.14 feet at 6 a.m. where the flood stage was 8 feet.

The Millstone River at Griggstown is at 10.56 feet as of 9 a.m. above the flood stage of 10 feet. And projections show the river will continue to rise.

More rain is expected overnight and through the weekend before sunny and warmer temperatures arrive next week.
Friday: Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 45. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: A chance of rain, mainly between 1 and 4 a.m. Patchy fog after 8 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 37. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Saturday: Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.
Saturday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog before 1 a.m., then patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday: A slight chance of showers before 1 p.m. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
