Garage Erupts Into Flames In Bradley Gardens

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A garage caught fire early Wednesday morning in the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater.

Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company arrived at the Maple Street home just before 5:50 a.m. to find the detached garage fully engulfed in flames, Bradley Gardens Deputy Chief Pete Chetwynd said.

"Being a garage there was a lot of debris and the roof collapsed in making it hard to get to some areas to extinguish it," Chetwynd said.

It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire and a total of three hours for firefighters to clear the scene.

The homeowner was not home at the time and there were no injuries, Chetwynd said.

A small shed behind the garage was also damaged by fire causing the siding to melt.

Country Hills, North Branch, and Green Knoll fire companies, and Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad also helped at the scene.
