Gunshots Fired At Business On Route 22 In Watchung

The shooting was reported on Monday night. Watchung Police and Somerset County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.

WATCHUNG, NJ — Authorities are investigating after gunshots were fired at a business on Route 22 in Watchung on Monday night.

On March 17 at around 9:39 p.m., Watchung Police officers went to a business on Route 22 West for a report of gunshots fired.

Officers saw evidence of gunshot damage to the building of the business, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Watchung Borough Chief of Police Scott Anderle.

No injuries were reported to be sustained as a result of the shots fired.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene along with detectives from the Watchung Borough Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
