BRIDGEWATER, NJ — More than 30 Hamilton School students, parents and staff members worked together to till the soil, add compost and topsoil and mulch the garden as part of “Community Soil Preparation Day” on Oct. 14.
Hamilton School has been working with Eric Kazmirek of The Red Ranch to plan, design and build the garden. Kazmirek is Hamilton’s “Gardener in Residence." This year he has led an introductory assembly, is teaching an after school gardening club, and will be instructing kindergarten and first grade students on farming and gardening topics.
The Bridgewater Raritan Educational Foundation and the Hamilton PTO are funding this project. Several local businesses such as ACE Hardware of Somerville and Wegmans have generously contributed to the effort as well.
