Underpass Reopens Following Heavy Rain In Manville

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for Somerset County by the National Weather Service.

MANVILLE, NJ — The Main Street Underpass is flooded and not passable following a passing severe thunderstorm.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area, Manville Police said in an alert around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued in Somerset County by the National Weather Service(NWS) through 3:45 p.m.

The storm could produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

"Minor damage to vehicles is possible," the weather service said. "Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible."

A watch remains in effect for the entire county through 8 p.m. A watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in or near the area. A warning means that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in the warned area.
