'Excessive Heat' Forces Early Dismissal For Bridgewater-Raritan On Tuesday

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — An excessive heat warning will force the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District(BRRSD) to close early on Tuesday this week.

All BRRSD schools will have an early dismissal on June 18. All AM PreK and Kindergarten classes will be dismissed at their regular time. PM PreK and Kindergarten classes are canceled.

Parents should refer to the website for School Hours for Students.

The schools already have a planned 4-Hour Session day on Wednesday and Thursday, June 19 and 20 as well.

A heat advisory remains in effect for the Bridgewater area from 10 a.m. on Tuesday through 6 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service(NWS).

An excessive heat watch also remains in effect from Wednesday morning through Saturday evening.

"For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 100 expected. For the Excessive Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 106 possible," according to NWS.

Locals are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Juneteenth: Sunny, with a high near 96. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 68.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 101.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
