The Hungry Hound Is Moving, Expanding Somerville Location

The longtime Somerville dog bakery and boutique will be tripling its size at its new location.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — The Hungry Hound, a longtime Somerville dog bakery and boutique, is relocating. However, there is no need to fear. They are just moving across the street to a much larger location.

Owner Penny Milligan said the boutique, which has been located at 94 W. Main St. for the past 16 years, is going from a 1,500 square-foot space to 5,000 square-feet in its new location on E Main Street near Alfonso’s in Somerville.

"We had outgrown this space many years ago and waited for the right space to open up on Main Street," Milligan said.

The new location will offer a much larger kitchen to make all the treats and birthday cakes, a grooming area is being added and an event room is also being added for adoption days or animal communicators.

"We will also have a tremendous amount of more space for retail," Milligan said.

The additional space will also allow Milligan to expand the current small cat section.

Milligan is shooting for the new location to open in June.

"Somerville has been very good to us over the last 16 years," Milligan said. "We are not going anywhere."
