On Friday, June 3, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. participants in the Leonard J. Buck Garden “Hypertufa Workshop” will make their own mini-trough and receive instruction for curing and completing it at home.
Hypertufa is a handmade material that resembles “tufa” (too-fa), a rugged volcanic rock used to make troughs. These containers are especially suited for small rock garden plants. A walk through Buck Garden will provide participants with ideas focusing on the effective use of the troughs in the home garden.
The Workshop fee of $40 includes the cost of materials. Pre-registration is required by calling 908-234-2677, ext. 21. Participation is limited to 10 people and is intended for new hypertufa students.

Leonard J. Buck Garden is one of the premier rock gardens in the eastern United States consisting of a series of alpine and woodland garden areas situated in a 29-acre wooded stream valley.
Buck Garden is a naturalistic setting incorporating large rock outcroppings creating varying exposures and microclimates that enable different plant associations to thrive. Tucked among the rocks are rare and exotic rock garden plants. The wooded trails connecting the outcroppings are lined with beautiful wild flowers that have flourished and multiplied through the years. Throughout the garden grow various ferns.
