Instructors of Mindfulness & Yoga Teach The Community Ways To Relax, Recharge, and Reduce Stress
October Open House at eZential Wellness will present relaxation techniques that can benefit adults and youth of all ages.

Everywhere you look, people are overworked, overscheduled, and overwhelmed, leading to societal exhaustion, an increase in stress, disease, anxiety, and a general feeling of being disengaged in life. Even teens and children frequently suffer from these unpleasant feelings due to the daily pressures of school, sports, social life, and general overload of activities.
Lori Arrechea, owner of eZential Wellness at 1300 Prince Rodgers Avenue in Bridgewater, NJ, is a 14-year, experienced Yoga instructor, integrative health practitioner, and Reiki Master. This fall, Lori will be hosting a special series of Mindfulness Workshops at eZential Wellness, presented by the team of Mindfulness Teachers/Trainers, Maria Usewick and Linda Metcalfe. To kick off the fall schedule, eZential Wellness is inviting community members to its Open House on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 1:00-5:00pm so that visitors can learn how weekly yoga and mindfulness classes can help individuals of all ages revitalize, reboot, and recharge, both mentally and physically.
“The quiet practice of yoga and meditation are tools for reaching our own inner-guide, which can lead to self-empowered healing”, explained Lori. “Everyone from the stages of childhood to mature adult will enjoy the benefits of happiness, mindfulness, and vitality,” she continued. Her weekly classes are non-competitive with an emphasis on relaxation, breath awareness, and healing the mind and body.

Much research has identified and proven the physiological benefits of practicing yoga and mindfulness, such as strengthening our immune system and lowering blood pressure. The New York Times “Well Blog” states, “Meditation is a simple practice available to all, which can reduce stress, increase calmness and clarity and promote happiness”. A recent Scientific American Magazine report on mindfulness showed that “this ancient practice can profoundly change the way different regions of the brain communicate with each other – and therefore how we think – permanently”. Learning to bring mindful moments into each day cultivates a feeling of being more alive, engaged, and grateful, rather than the default mode of autopilot, anxious, and envious. Major corporations, such as Google, Aetna, Intel, and General Mills, encourage the practice of mindfulness and understand how it can be beneficial to employees (personally and professionally) and to the business as a whole.
Children and teens who are taught mindfulness learn skills that are not typically taught in school, such as how to sustain attention, manage impulsive behaviors, bounce back from disappointment, and be more kind and accepting towards themselves and others. Athletes learn mental toughness is as important as physical toughness. Practicing mindfulness and learning these skills at a young age may help to equip teens in our community with the daily skills needed to better manage inevitable ups and downs with confidence, promoting a lifestyle of health and happiness.
