International Walk to School Day with RWJUH, Safe Kids Middlesex County & FedEx Promotes Safe Walking Skills and Environments

More than 350 students, parents, teachers and administrators celebrate the event in Dunellen

On the beautiful sunny morning of October 7, 2015, more than 350 students, parents, teachers and administrators from John P. Faber Elementary School in Dunellen, along with the borough mayor and council, walked with FedEx employees to celebrate International Walk to School Day. They were escorted by Dunellen Police, Fire and EMS departments. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) and Safe Kids Middlesex partnered with the borough for this event to teach children safe walking skills and to encourage the creation of safe walking environments. Students visited the FedEx truck to learn about pedestrian dangers, such as blind spots, making eye contact with drivers and more safe behaviors.
