Bridgewater Eco-Blast Fair, May 3

Mayor Dan Hayes and the Bridgewater Township Environmental Commission and the Sustainability Task Force are pleased to announce the return of the Township's "Eco-Blast" Sustainability Fair.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday,  May 3, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Kid Street Park. The park is located at the Bridgewater Municipal Complex, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater. The Eco-Blast Fair will feature over 40 exhibitors including the New Jersey Bee Keepers Association, Native Plant Society of New Jersey, NJ Water Supply Authority, Home Depot, Melick's Farm, Final Touch Plantscaping and the Rutgers Environmental Stewardship Program.

Soles for Souls, a non-profit organization, will offer the collection of slightly used or new shoes for distribution to individuals in areas of natural disaster. The Bridgewater Lions Club "Recycle for Sight" Program will be available to collect and recycle used eyeglasses for individuals in need.

A schedule of activities for the Eco-Blast will include an electric car show courtesy of the New Jersey Electric Auto Association. Lexus of Bridgewater will also be on hand  to display a hybrid vehicle. Children's Workshops will include a birdhouse painting craft as well as a tree seedling potting project with the support of Home Depot. Live music will be featured throughout the event with appearances by the Good Earth Review, Off the Grid and the Graduates. Special appearances will also be provided by the Somerset Patriots mascot Sparkee as well as Gizmo D. Robot.

The event will be complete with the "Taste of Bridgewater Extravaganza." Food samples and refreshments will be available through the courtesy of Wegman's, Stapleton's, Red Lobster, Houlihan's, Olive Garden, Applebee's, Rita's of Bridgewater, Time to Eat Diner and Bridgewater Bakery. Raffles and giveaways will be abundant with the availability of reusable water bottles and shopping bags. Gift cards will be available for raffle through the support of STS, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cheesecake Factory, Applebee's, Red Lobster, Milano Grille and Chimney Rock Inn. Shade Trees and children's bicycles will be available for raffle through the support of Sanofi USA while the Somerset County Freeholders will offer the raffle of a backyard composter.
