John Basilone Memorial Parade Canceled Due To Coronavirus
"It would be unconscionable for us to put the generation that we are looking to honor at risk by holding the parade," parade officials said.

RARITAN, NJ — Parade officials have canceled the 39th Annual John Basilone Memorial Parade for 2020, which had been scheduled for Sept. 20, due to coronavirus concerns.
"As we all know the coronavirus is still a threat. In fact, in many locations the number of cases is once again on the rise. Even if a parade such as ours was legal to have under the new restrictions, it would be unconscionable for us to put the generation that we are looking to honor at risk by holding the parade," John Basilone Parade Committee stated in a release Thursday.
The annual parade honors Raritan local and National World War II hero, Marine Sergeant John Basilone.
