John Basilone Parade Canceled Due To Tropical Storm Threat
The 42nd Annual John Basilone Memorial Parade honoring its National World War II hero had been set for Sunday.
RARITAN, NJ — The 42nd Annual John Basilone Memorial Parade honoring its National World War II hero, Marine Sergeant John Basilone is canceled for 2023 due to forecasted heavy rains.
"Unfortunately, this year’s Basilone Parade needs to be cancelled due to the weather forecast. The committee will meet in a few days to discuss a 'possible' alternate date for this year. Our apologies for any inconvenience that this may have caused," said Bruce Doorly of the John Basilone Parade Committee.
The parade had been set for Sunday, Sept. 24 with special guest actress Loretta Swit.

Sunday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 66. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between three-quarters and one inch possible.
Sunday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 57. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
