Kangaroo Kids Celebrates Week of the Young Child

Kangaroo Kids learns the importance of community helpers

Kangaroo Kids has been accredited by NAEYC, since 2001, and they celebrated with a unique schedule of events. The kick off for Week of the Young Child was Music Monday! Teachers, children and parents will share their love of music. After the kickoff, children had special events all week in their classes, which emphasized the importance of literacy, staying fit, appreciating the arts and giving back to the community.

They also learned about community helpers thanks to Trooper Kris Buonomo, and EMT Stanley Stellakis. Kris spoke about how police work together, work with other emergency personnel, and firefighters. He spoke about how police keep us safe and talked about what we see and hear when the police are responding to an emergency, so they would not be fearful when the see the lights and sirens of a police car. Mr. Stan showed the children the inside of a ambulance and spoke to the children about what was inside an ambulance, how to call 911 and the importance of learning their address in case they ever have to call 911 to help someone. The students even had a special visit from Sparkee. The Week of the Young Child closed with an ice-cream social. A perfect opportunity to enjoy a delicious treat while socializing with classmates and reflecting upon the week!
