Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.
In an effort to support good dental care Kangaroo Kids has a dental specialist visit the school on an annual basis to promote good dental care for children. Parents were welcome to attend the sessions.
On Tuesday, February 14th Kangaroo Kids was visited by Lisa Alesandro, RDH, and Barbara Carra from the Children’s Dental Center. The children learned about proper nutrition, identified good and bad food choices and learned about the importance of taking care of their teeth! They also had demonstrations of how to brush and floss their teeth. The Children’s Dental Center made the children feel special by providing each child with a dental goodie bag!

Your child's first teeth (primary teeth) usually begin to erupt through the gums at about 6 months of age, although the timing varies among children. All 20 primary teeth should come in between the ages of 6 months and 3 years. Your child will lose his or her primary teeth between the ages of 6 and 11. Select a child friendly family dentist. The ADA recommends parents take children to a dentist no later than their first birthday.
Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and a healthy smile is important to a child’s self-esteem. With proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong.
