Left Turn Arrow To Be Added To Improve Bridgewater Intersection

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Drivers in the area know how difficult it can be to try and make a left turn at the Chimney Rock Road and Union Avenue intersection in Bridgewater. That will soon change.
New Jersey Department of Transportation Spokesman Brian Ahrens said the department is "in the process of designing an upgrade to improve the traffic signals at the intersection to include a dedicated left turn arrow from Chimney Rock Road onto Union Avenue, which is also Route 28."
Over the years traffic has continued to increase in the area with more and more retail stores being added in the area including the Bridgewater Promenade and Chimney Rock shopping center.

During peak hours, traffic can pile up at the light backing up cars along Chimney Rock Road. This new signal is intended to improve the intersection.
The design is expected to be completed this winter, with work anticipated to begin next summer.
