BRANCHBURG, NJ — Several area Raritan Valley Community College students will participate in an upcoming event entitled “DanceWorks” which will be held on April 30 and May 1 at the school’s Branchburg campus, the school has announced.

The Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble will perform Anne Teresa Keersmaeker’s “Rosas danst Rosas”, which was created in 1983 and has become a staple in postmodern dance. The performance, which includes student and faculty dances, includes original choreographed dances by local students Mikayla Ahart (Hillsborough), Mallory Banks (Fanwood) and Alison Stone (Bound Brook) among other students and faculty members.

The college's dance ensemble troupe is composed of current RVCC students, alumni and community members, and provides the college and nearby communities with opportunities to experience and appreciate live dance performance, the school announced in a news release.

The performance is the culmination of a semester’s worth of classwork as the students created and rehearsed the dances that will be performed in the upcoming show, the school said in a news release. Faculty choreography includes the premiere of two new pieces made specifically for the outdoor environment, created by adjunct professors Marissa Aucoin and Lauren Beirne.

The performances will take place at 6 p.m. on April 30 and at 3 p.m. on May 1 with a rain date scheduled for 3 p.m. on May 2 in the case of inclement weather. The event will take place outdoors on the campus’ outdoor basketball courts.
