Lunar Academy: A Nonprofit Using AI to Facilitate Education

Thousands of high-schoolers feel the the confusion when navigating the complex maze of educational opportunities. While some fortunate have supportive mentors, dedicated parents, or access to well-resourced private school. However, what about those who do have access to this such kind of support? Discovering and accessing relevant and valuable educational opportunities can feel like a daunting task. In a world where opportunities often describe success, Lunar academy aims to bridge this gap and make opportunities equally accessible to students from all backgrounds.

Founded by two ambitious students from the Bridgewater-Raritan High School, Soham Chausalkar and Shubham Roy-Choudhury, Lunar Academy started as a small initiative with just two members. Starting from just 2 members, Lunar Academy now has grown to 30 members who share a passion for empowering students through the power of artificial intelligence. As Lunar Academy continues to expand, it also strengthens its impact by partnering with a network of 28 other non-profits and STEM organizations, creating a broader platform to support students from all social backgrounds.

Currently, Lunar Academy is working on an innovative tool that helps any student find personalized educational opportunities. Through this tool, any student in search for educational opportunities will be able to find summer programs, internships, and bootcamps. As a result, use of this tool ultimately simplifies the process of discovering and applying to educational opportunities, which otherwise would take hours just to find an applicable summer program. In doing so, Pathfinder ensures that every student, regardless of their background or resources, can have access to educational opportunities.

Beyond Pathfinder, Lunar Academy is deeply committed to utilizing AI for education, as our organization values accessibility and inclusivity in education. Our journey is not just limited to Pathfinder AI, as we are already planning and solidifying future projects that will further enhance its mission of providing equitable access to education.
