Man Hunt With K-9, Helicopter Ends With 3 Arrests In Warren

The three were charged after a burglary to a business where they fled from police before crashing on Washington Valley Road on Monday: Cops.

WARREN, NJ — A manhunt involving police, K-9 units, and helicopters ended in the arrest of three people on Monday in Warren Township.

At 2:10 a.m., Warren Township Police were alerted to a burglary in progress at a local business. Within seconds of receiving the alert, officers found the suspect vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, fleeing the business, said Warren Police Chief Robert Ferreiro.

When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it sped away to try and elude officers, said Ferreiro.

Officers continued to chase the suspect vehicle before it crashed on Washington Valley Road near Dock Watch Hollow Road.

All three people in the vehicle ran away from the crash, said Ferreiro.

Using various sources of technology, aerial support systems, and ground support units, the three people were taken into custody and the proceeds from the burglary were recovered.

Melvin Lawerence Minor, 34, of Washington, DC was charged with second-degree eluding, third-degree receiving stolen property, fourth-degree obstruction, and disorderly persons offense for burglary tools.

Juanmel Minor, 28, of Washington, DC was charged with second-degree theft, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree joyriding, fourth-degree obstruction, disorderly persons offense for burglary tools, and disorderly persons offense for criminal mischief.

Tyrik Katriell Williams, 27, of Waldorf, MD was charged with second-degree theft, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree joyriding, fourth-degree obstruction, and disorderly persons offense for criminal mischief.

All three were remanded to the Somerset County Jail pending a first appearance in Superior Court.

Warren Police thanked the Bridgewater Police Department, Green Brook Police Department, Watchung Police Department, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Branch for their help capturing the suspects.

Ferreiro said the "Warren PD, with the help of our local, county, state, and federal partners will continue to leverage every available resource to detect and apprehend criminal violators preying on our residents, businesses, and their property."
