Somerset County Photographer Named Winner Of New Jersey Monthly Photo Contest

MANVILLE, NJ — Manville resident Kim Kuznetsov's image "Full Moon Rising" took First Place in the Landscape & Nature Category in the New Jersey Monthly Cover Search, presented by Unique Photo.

"The sky was perfect. Somebody yelled, 'Did you see the rising moon?' I didn’t realize it was coming up. It was just gorgeous. I got behind some grasses and focused on them," said Kuznetsov of her image.

Kuznetsov's photo will appear in the December issue of the magazine.

The contest has been held annually since 2018 asking readers to submit their favorite images to the magazine’s ongoing exploration of life in the Garden State.

Amateur and professional photographers were able to make submissions in eight categories: Architecture, Lifestyle, Landscape & Nature, Down the Shore, Wildlife, Aerial & Drone (new this year), Student, and Special (digital manipulations and specialties such as night, aerial and abstract work).

In concert with Unique Photo and an expert judging panel, the magazine reviewed more than 1,200 submissions based on originality, technical excellence, composition, artistic merit and relevance to life in New Jersey.

Winners and runners-up won valuable photo equipment and gift cards from Unique Photo.
