Martinsville Photographer Offers Graduating Seniors Photo Session

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — When the coronavirus caused Martinsville photographer Kristen Rath to close her business up completely she decided to find a way to give back. To help lift the spirits of the class of 2020 Rath is offering free portrait sessions to seniors.

"When it comes to the class of 2020 it just seemed a portrait session would really help lift their spirits. They've missed out on so many end-of-year senior traditions, like prom. This will give them a chance to dress up and feel good about themselves," Rath said.

Rath of Bridgewater opened her photography business, Drum Hill Studios, in October 2012 which specializes in maternity, newborn and family portraiture.

"I have loved art for as long as I can remember," Rath said. "I always enjoyed photography but really came to understand how invaluable it is when my father passed away at a very young age. Photographs were all I had to hold onto."

After having children, Rath became obsessed with photographing every detail of their young lives. She then invested in a better camera and started taking digital photography classes.

"One day I literally had an epiphany. I could combine everything I learned as a student, a professional and a mom and start my own family portrait photography business," Rath said.

Now she is giving back to the community by offering free portraits to graduating seniors. While she already has 10 seniors signed up, she still has a waiting list. If she collects enough names she will add a second date for more free portraits.
