Midland Corp. Announces New Board Chair and Vice-Chair
Midland announced the appointment of Mr. John Tegeler as the Board of Trustees Chair and Mrs. Sandra LoPiccolo as Vice-Chair.
NORTH BRANCH, N.J., August 2, 2022 – The Midland Corporation, which provides oversight, strategic direction and policy recommendations to guide The Midland School and Midland Adult Services in North Branch, N.J., announced the appointment of Mr. John Tegeler of Martinsville, N.J. as the Board of Trustees Chair to lead the 15-member board, and the appointment of Mrs. Sandra LoPiccolo of Maplewood, NJ to serve as Vice -Chair. These appointments are effective June 2022 to June 2025.

As chair, I plan to work closely with Midland Corporation CEO-Shawn M. McInerney and the rest of the trustees to advance the Midland mission of ensuring a bright future for our students and adults. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities to offer the best possible programs and services for those we serve.”

JOHN TEGELER
Mr. Tegeler has been involved with Midland for more than thirty-five years. His son is an alumnus of the Midland School, resides in a Midland group home and participates in Midland Explores, Midland’s day habilitation program. Mr. Tegeler joined the Midland Corporation Board in June of 2015, where he was recently the Strategic Planning committee chair. An avid supporter of the organization, he volunteered in many different ways over the years.

Prior to his retirement, John Tegeler was a pharmaceutical executive with a decade of experience at the global vice president level. His career spanned 34 years at Sanofi US and 5 predecessor companies in Bridgewater. Mr. Tegeler holds a BS in Chemistry at SUNY Albany and a PhD in Organic Chemistry at SUNY Buffalo, and was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.
Mr. Tegeler recently served on the Immaculata High School Board, where he was Operations committee chair and contributed to Strategic Planning. He and his wife Regina served on the Midland Parents’ Association Board and volunteered regularly at school and alumni events. They have been involved in advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families for many years.
SANDRA LOPICCOLO
An avid supporter of Midland on many levels, Mrs. LoPiccolo has volunteered with The Midland Foundation since 2016 and was named co-chair to the annual “Midland Goes to the Movies with PNC” event since 2018. She currently serves on the Advancement, Strategic Planning and Governance Committees.
After graduating from Hamilton College, Mrs. LoPiccolo took on multiple roles within CBS News in New York rising to the rank of Producer for CBS News Sunday Morning. During her tenure at CBS, she was a five-time News and Documentary Award Nominee. Since 2010 she has focused on nonprofit work and currently serves as Chief Communications Officer for Bedtime Math Foundation in Summit, NJ. Her duties include brand management, messaging, public relations and marketing.
Mrs. LoPiccolo is a member of the South Orange-Maplewood Special Education Parent Advisory Committee and was recently accepted to the 2022-2023 New Jersey Policymaking program led by the Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at Rutgers University.

Who We Are
Founded in 1960, Midland is a CARF-accredited New Jersey not-for-profit, 501c3 organization comprised of the Midland School and Midland Adult Services, Inc. (MAS).
The Midland School is an approved private special education school dedicated to the individual, academic, social, emotional and career education needs of children, adolescents and young adults, ages 3 through 21, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Partnering with an array of businesses and corporations, Midland’s extensive career education, and school-to-work transition program helps place Midland students in competitive jobs at graduation.
Midland Adult Services focuses on the transition from school to adult life by providing residential living, community and life skills training, job training and placement, day and social/recreational experiences to support and enrich the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
