Modern Latin Restaurant To Open In Somerville

SOMERVILLE, NJ — A Latin-inspired food and drink restaurant, Salted Lime, will be opening in Somerville sometime this fall.

This will be the third restaurant for two New Jersey locals, both owners of Mark Daniel Hospitality, Danny McGill and Mark Farro. They already successfully own and run INC Restaurant, an American bar and restaurant in New Brunswick and Uproot a casual American restaurant in Warren.

“This [restaurant] will have more of a modern Latin focus,” said McGill. “It will be heavy on the tacos with influences from around central and southern America such as Chile, Peru and others.”

The idea for Salted Lime came from Farro, who is a chef with a Latin background.

“He has a bit of an obsession with tacos,” McGill said of Farro. “This will be a bit of passion project for him.”

The new location will be at 46 East Main St. in Somerville with a tentative opening date at the end of September.

“We chose Somerville because everybody thinks that it is a bit of an up-and-coming food town,” McGill said.

“We will be offering something different that the town doesn’t necessarily have,” McGill said. “Out of all our concepts we have, this is the most casual and most fun. It will be light-hearted with good drinks.”

Salted Lime will have a 30-seat bar that looks into the open air kitchen where diners can see the chefs hand pressing corn and flour tortillas. Everything cooked will be from scratch and for the most part purchased locally.

The bar will also offer cocktails on draft and frozen drinks such as the traditional margaritas.
