BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Authorities have identified the victim of Monday's stabbing in Bridgewater as the suspect's mother. Police say Michael Litwornia fatally stabbed Helen Litwornia, 61, at their Washington Valley Road residence. Helen was not immediately identified by authorities as they were waiting to identify her next of kin.

Authorities conducted an autopsy on Tuesday afternoon. The cause and manner of death was determined to be sharp force trauma to the neck, classified as a homicide, authorities said.

Michael Litwornia is accused of stabbing both of his parents around 8:20 p.m. His father is still in critical condition at an area trauma center where he underwent emergency surgery. Michael is being charged with first-degree homicide and second- degree aggravated assault.
