Motorcyclist Hospitalized, Seriously Injured In Route 22 Crash In Bridgewater

The crash involving a motorcycle and a Tesla happened on Tuesday afternoon in Bridgewater.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A motorcyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash with a Tesla on Route 22 in Bridgewater.

On Tuesday at 12:56 p.m., Bridgewater Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Route 22 West in the area of Open Road Volkswagen.

A 30-year-old man from Iselin was driving a 2023 Tesla Model Y, in the left lane of Route 22 West when he was hit from the rear by a 2016 BMW 1000rr Motorcycle, said Bridgewater Police Officer Stephen Black.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, by Martinsville Rescue Squad, with serious injuries, said Black.

This crash is still under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
