New 24-Hour QuickChek, Gas Station To Open On Route 202

The Branchburg Township Planning Board approved the plan that also includes room for an Aldi grocery store and a fast food restaurant.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — A 24-hour, seven-day-a-week QuickChek convenience store and gas station is coming to Route 202 North in Branchburg.

The Branchburg Township Planning Board approved the plan at its Tuesday night meeting which includes room for an Aldi grocery store and a fast food restaurant.

The 5,670-square-foot convenience store owned by Quick Chek will include a canopy for 8 fuel dispensers at the corner of Route 202 North and Old York Road. An entrance and exit will be constructed for the property on both Route 202 North and Old York Road.

The project also includes constructing a drainage and sanitary system for the entire property.

Engineer for Quick Chek Adam Westenberger added that the project also takes into account the New Jersey Department of Transportation's plan to widen the Old York Road and Route 202 intersection.

Professional Planner for Quick Chek John McDonough noted that the application also accounts for space for an Aldi grocery store with a parking lot and "additional space on the property to accommodate future build-out" such as a fast food restaurant and medical office building.

Regardless of what side of the aisle you are on… in the end what we look for is smart intelligent development," said Robert Simon, who served as Quick Chek's attorney for the application.

"To come up with the best possible plan for a property that is large and is at a difficult intersection, and we all know that, I do believe we provided… really the most excellent of plans under the circumstances," said Simon to the Board on Tuesday.

This Quick Chek location will be the only convenience store with a gas station on the northbound side of Route 202 between Wawa in Three Bridges and Quick Chek in Raritan off the Somerville Circle.
