New First Assistant Somerset County Prosecutor Appointed

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Annemarie L. Mueller has been appointed to serve as the new First Assistant Prosecutor at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office(SCPO), announced Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

She began her career working with the SCPO in 2011 specifically seeking justice for the victims of sexual violence.

"Our office, and the residents of Somerset County, are truly fortunate to have Annemarie Mueller as First Assistant Prosecutor. She was selected from a group of very impressive candidates," said McDonald.

As First Assistant Prosecutor, Mueller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office and will supervise 24 Assistant Prosecutors. Mueller has served as Legal Advisor to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, as an attorney in the Trial Unit, and as the Program Manager for the Veterans Diversion Program.

Prior to joining the SCPO, she was an Associate with Buckley & Theroux, LLC, Princeton. Her experience also included a Judicial Clerkship with the Hon. Paul W. Armstrong, Superior Court of New Jersey, Criminal Part, a legal internship at the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, Juvenile/Domestic Violence Unit, and a summer internship at the Office of the Public Defender in Somerville.

Mueller is a graduate of Western New England College where she majored in Political Science and minored in Philosophy which high honors Magna Cum Laude. Mueller is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law. A long-time resident of Somerset County she currently resides in Hunterdon County with her family.
