Kean Jr. also released a statement thanking Malinowski for his years of public service.

"Throughout the district and throughout this nation, we have been given an opportunity to change the course of history. I am incredibly grateful to the voters of the 7th District for their confidence," said Kean Jr.

Kean went on to pledge to always "serve with integrity, to listen, to learn, to eager this responsibility you've honored me with to steer this nation towards greater opportunity, security, and prosperity."

Malinowski blamed the re-districting of his area for his fall against Kean Jr.

"While we did as well or better than in 2020 in the communities I have represented these last four years, and I expect the results to tighten further as all votes are counted, the new district proved too much of a hurdle to overcome," said Malinowski.
