Somerset County Park Commission (Somerset County Park Commission)

The well-being and safety of the Somerset County Park Commission’s staff, volunteers, and park patrons are top priorities, and the Commission has decided to take certain action in an effort to limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Heeding the recommendation of Governor Murphy to limit the size of public gatherings and to engage in “social distancing,” the Park Commission is postponing many of its programs, events, and activities and closing several of its indoor public facilities commencing Monday, March 16th and continuing through Sunday, April 12th.

During these increasingly fluid times, the Commission has chosen to postpone all indoor programs, events, and activities. Programs, events, and activities that occur outdoors with less than 250 participants will proceed until further notice.

While all general use parks, gardens, golf courses, athletic and tennis facilities will remain open during normal hours, organized programs at the Colonial Park Gardens in the Somerset, Leonard J. Buck Garden in Far Hills, the Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge, Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, and Park Commission Headquarters in Bridgewater will be postponed through Sunday, April 12th.

The Park Commission is committed to taking measures to ensure that its facilities and resources will be cleaned and disinfected above and beyond normal protocol to ensure the safety of those who work and play in the Somerset County parks. The Commission encourages its community members to get outside and enjoy its award-winning and critically acclaimed park system to seek serenity and refuge from Coronavirus.

Guests who registered for programs and permits that required a fee between March 16th and April 12th will be refunded or credited toward a future program.
