Patriots Swat Skeeters 7-1

Sugar Land, TX – The Somerset Patriots (8-5) beat the Sugar Land Skeeters (6-7) 7-1 Thursday afternoon from humid Constellation Field. The Patriots have won two of the first three games in this lengthy six game series.

 

In the top of the first inning right fielder Luis Montanez hit a RBI sacrifice fly to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.

Montanez smacked a two run home run (1) to left field in the top of the third inning as Somerset added to its lead making the score 3-0.

The Patriots tacked on four runs in the top of the sixth inning to lead by a touchdown 7-0. First baseman Eddy Martinez-Esteve sliced a RBI single while center fielder Cory Harrilchak ripped a three RBI triple. Harrilchak finished a home run shy of the cycle.

 

Shortstop Rusty Ryal registered a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 7-1 which would be the final.  

 

Matt Maloney (2-0) earned the win tossing seven scoreless brilliant innings allowing just two hits. Steve Hammand (0-2) suffered the loss allowing six runs in 5.1 innings worth of work.
