Pedestrian Hit By Car, Hospitalized In Somerville
The pedestrian was identified as a 69-year-old resident of Somerville, who was crossing East Main Street at the time of the crash.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — A pedestrian was hit by a car and hospitalized on Tuesday night in Somerville.
On Feb. 20 at around 6:22 p.m., the Somerville Police Department went to the scene of a pedestrian struck on East Main Street near the intersection of Haynes Street.
An investigation found that the pedestrian, a 69-year-old resident of Somerville, was crossing East Main Street from North to South in the area of the intersection when struck, said Somerville Police Captain Manuel Garcia.

Iran M. Jimenez of Bound Brook was driving a 2018 Hyundai Santa Cruz eastbound on East Main Street at the time of the collision, said Garcia.
Jimenez remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. There was no indication that alcohol, medication, or drugs were involved and no evidence of cell phone use.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
