The Preschool Place & Kindergarten Creates Art Exhibition

More than 100 works of art inspired by well-known artists were created and exhibited by Kinder Plus students, a kindergarten enrichment.

More than 100 works of art inspired by famous artists were created and exhibited by Kinder Plus students at The Preschool Place & Kindergarten, 594 North Bridge Street, Bridgewater. Kinder Plus is a half-day enrichment program for public school kindergarten students. The art exhibition, held on April 20, was the culmination of a visual arts study in which the students learned about and then created their own art in the style of well-known artists including Claude Monet, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. The students utilized a wide range of art media to create their own masterpieces.

Kinder Plus teacher Mrs. Brainum said, “Our students showed a tremendous passion for learning about artists and creating their own art. Picasso once said ‘every child is an artist,’ and we believe it! Every student became an artist through this art experience. Our students were thoughtful and expressed their own interpretation of the artist styles we studied and they are very proud of their originality, effort, and achievement.”

The Kinder Plus students led parents and other visitors through the art exhibition and readily shared their knowledge of art and joy with their guests. Kinder Plus parent Amy Majowka said, “The class has been busy in the best of ways! I’m so proud of my son and thankful to the teachers for giving him this fabulous learning experience.”

The kindergarten students completed their ambitious project over several weeks. The Kinder Plus program is theme-based, in which time is devoted so students can explore the subject matter of the theme. “The students thrive on exploring new subjects and ideas which are designed to build their creative, academic, and social skills, and love of learning,” said teacher Mrs. Brainum.
