Residents Escape Bridgewater House Fire, Cause Under Investigation

As a result of the fire, Route 28 was closed in the area for about three hours on Monday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater residents were able to escape a working fire at their home on Monday afternoon, said police.

Several 911 calls reported the fire at about 3:11 p.m. on Jan. 31 at 597 Janis Place, said Bridgewater Police Captain Sean O'Neill.

The residents were home and evacuated before the first responders arrived. They were not injured, said O'Neill.

It took about three hours, about 6:30 p.m., for firefighters to extinguish the fire.

As a result, Route 28 was closed in the area for about three hours by Bridgewater Police and NJ Department of Transportation.

The Bridgewater Township Fire Official is investigating the fire.

The North Branch, Country Hills, Green Knoll, Bradley Gardens, Finderne, Martinsville, Raritan, Somerville, Readington, Far-Hills Bedminster, Peapack-Gladstone, Neshanic, and Hillsborough Fire Companies came out to extinguish the fire. Bradley Gardens and RWJ Rescue Squads were also on the scene.
