Rivers Flood, Roads And Parks Closed Across Somerset County
Thursday is off to a soggy start with rivers flooded and roads closed due to heavy rains on Wednesday night.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Thursday morning commuters are feeling the impacts of the heavy rains of Wednesday night with multiple rivers flooded and roads closed.
Flooding caused by runoff from the recent heavy rainfall is expected to remain until around 4 p.m. in Somerset County, according to Somerset County Public Safety.
Minor flooding will most likely occur in Branchburg Township, Bridgewater Township and Hillsborough Township.

Here are some of the roads that are closed:
- Blackwell Mills Causeway between Hillsborough and Franklin Townships
- The Blackpoint Road Bridge in Hillsborough
- The Opie Road Bridge (River Road in Hillsborough into Branchburg) (NOW OPEN)
- Old York Road between Bridgewater and Branchburg (NOW OPEN)
- River Road from Roycefield Road to Raritan Borough border
- Griggstown Causeway in Montgomery
- Lamington Road in Readington into Bedminster
- Lyman Street bridge between Raritan Borough and Hillsborough Township (NOW OPEN)
- Island Road in Readington
The list of roads above are as of 8 p.m. on Thursday. Drivers should look for an alternate route and avoid the area. Never drive through standing water.

Flooded Rivers, according to the National Weather Service:
- North Branch Raritan River near Raritan is currently 8.88 feet high above the 8 foot action stage.
- North Branch Raritan River at South Branch (near Old York Road) is 8.59 feet over the 8 foot minor flooding stage.
- Millstone River at Griggstown is at 10.22 feet over the 10-foot minor flooding stage.
Multiple Somerset County Parks are also closed:
- Duke Island Park
- North Branch Park (headquarters is still open)
- Raritan River Greenway
- South Branch Greenway
The weather for the remainder for the rest of the week looks dry. The NWS is not reporting any signs of rain until Tuesday, which will give the Somerset County area a chance to dry out.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
Sunday Night: Cloudy, with a low around 34.
