Riversharks Hold Off Patriots 3-2

Bridgewater, NJ- The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 3-2 on Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.

 

Camden took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Bobby Stevens in the top of the third inning.

The Riversharks plated two more in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Michael Albaladejo for a 3-0 lead.

The Patriots cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI double by Luis Montanez and an RBI groundout by Ty Wright.

 

Somerset threatened in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run on second, but failed to score.

 

Camden’s Jake Hale (1-1) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits in 7.1 innings pitched. Patriots starter Matt Maloney (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits in four innings pitched. Matt Gorgen earned his third save of the season.

 

The Turnpike Series between the Patriots and Riversharks is now 3-2 in favor of Somerset.
