Driver Airlifted, 2 More Injured In Head-On Crash On Route 202 In Bridgewater

Three people were injured as a result of the crash on Route 202 near Milltown Road in Bridgewater on Thursday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A driver was airlifted to the hospital, and two others were injured following a head-on crash on Route 202 in Bridgewater on Thursday.

At around 11:10 a.m., Bridgewater Township Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving entrapment on Route 202 at the intersection of Milltown Road.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2004 Honda Civic was driving on Route 202 South in the left lane as it approached Milltown Road.

Before reaching the intersection, the Civic veered left, crossed the grass median, and entered the northbound lanes of traffic, said Sgt. Kevin Florczak.

The Honda then crashed head-on with a 2017 Chevrolet Van, driving north in the left lane, said Florczak.

The driver of the Honda Civic had serious injuries and was rescued from the vehicle by the Bradley Gardens Fire Department.

The driver was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick by the New Jersey State Police Medevac unit.

Two other occupants of the Honda had moderate injuries and were taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet Van were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
