Scammers Posing As Bridgewater Police Officers Looking For Money, Cops Warn

Anyone who gets a call like this is asked to get the caller's name, hang up immediately, and then contact the Bridgewater Police.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Residents are being warned to watch out for phone scammers pretending to be Bridgewater Township Police Officers and seeking money.

"A scam is currently circulating in which callers falsely claim to be Bridgewater Police officers," said the police department.

Anyone who gets a call like this is asked to get the caller’s name, hang up immediately, and then contact the Bridgewater Police Department directly at 908-722-4111.

"Never provide credit or debit card information over the phone unless you initiated the call or are certain of the caller’s identity," said police. "Do not purchase gift cards for anyone claiming to be law enforcement."
