Schilder Will Now March to Beat of His Own Drum

Bridgewater-Raritan school board honors retiring superintendent.

Retiring Superintendent of Schools Michael Schilder will be rocking as he is rolling out of town.

To honor his service to the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District over the past six years, the Board of Education presented him with parting gifts at its meeting on Tuesday night.

Board president Patrick Breslin, in noting that Schilder has a passion for rock and playing drums, presented him with two wrapped gifts — a drum stick bag and a drum head emblazoned with the letters “B R.”

Schilder told the board that he was confident “this school district will continue to flourish.” His confidence in the district’s future, he said, was prompted by the “great people” in the district, including administrators, teachers and an office staff that’s “second to none.”

Schilder, who has been on vacation since the beginning of the month, did not stay for the remainder of the meeting.

As he walked out of the conference room, he said simply, “Adios.”
