SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Somerset County retains a “high level” of coronavirus activity as of Nov. 27, according to the Somerset County Department of Health.

According to the weekly report from last Friday, the county has a CALI score of “high,” a total that combines the case rate, the case rate, the percentage of people with confirmed “COVID-like illnesses,” (CLI), and positivity rate. The county has been designated as “high” since November, despite a mostly uninterrupted swath of “moderate” designations from May to October.

The county has a case rate of 16.52, an average of new daily cases for every 100,000 people. 6.84% of county residents are displaying COVID-like illnesses, and 7.08% of county COVID tests are coming back positive.

The state of New Jersey was also given a “high” score, with a case rate of 20.1, 5.4% CLI, and 6.09% test positivity. New Jersey’s Central West region also received a high score, with a case rate of 19.4, 5.6% CLI, and 5.17% positivity.

As of Dec. 2, Somerset County has reported a total of 29,507 confirmed cases and 773 fatalities since March 2020. The county reported a total of 477 cases from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2, according to Somerset County. The municipality with the highest number of cases was Franklin Township, with 81. Rocky Hill and Millstone boroughs both reported 0 cases.
