Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Tornado Watch Issued For Somerset County
Storms could bring 60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail to the area on Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch in Somerset County on Monday night.
The severe thunderstorm warning is issued through 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
Storms could bring 60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail which can result in damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines, according to the NWS.

A Tornado Watch also remains in effect until 11 p.m. on Monday for Somerset County.
"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building," according to the NWS.

A watch means conditions are favorable for a tornado in or near the area. A warning means that storms are imminent or occurring in the warned area.
Here is a look at the weather ahead:
Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Patchy fog after 1 a.m. Low around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 80. West wind 5 to 15 mph.
Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
