Small Plane Crashes Near Somerset Airport In Bedminster

Two people were on board the plane when it crashed on Wednesday night, according to an FAA spokesperson.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A small plane with two people on board crashed near Somerset Airport in Bedminster on Wednesday night.

A single-engine Piper PA-28 crashed near the airport around 7 p.m. on Sept 4, said an FAA spokesperson.

The plane was trying to land at the airport, at 150 Airport Road, when it lost power and ended up in the trees beside a grassy runway, according to cbsnews.com.

Two people were on board, said an FAA spokesperson.

CBS News reported that the two people escaped the plane before rescue crews arrived.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board is leading an investigation into the crash.

"Unfortunately, we are prohibited to provide any details, as this is an FAA investigation," said Bedminster Police.
