Somerset Among Top Healthiest Counties in NJ

Somerset County, NJ -- Coming in as the third healthiest county in New Jersey is Somerset County, according to a study conducted by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin.

Somerset was ranked among 21 other counties in the Garden State based on a number of factors looking at the quality of life, health behaviors, clinical care available, social and economic factor and the physical environment.

What determined how Somerset stood above the rest can be linked to:

• Access to exercise
• Number of teen births
• Amount of excessive drinking
• Number of those insured
• Number of doctors, dentists
• Number of preventable screenings
• Education rate
• Unemployment rate
• Number of single family households
• Violent crime

Overall, Hunterdon County came in at number 1 with Cumberland County as the worst at number 21.
