Somerset County 4-H Fair Canceled Wednesday Due To Weather

A decision about Thursday and Friday 4-H Fair activities will be made Wednesday afternoon.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The 76th Annual Somerset County 4-H Association's annual 4-H Fair is canceled on Wednesday "due to weather and with concern for the safety of our 4-H families, fairgoers, animals and other 4-H projects," announced Somerset County 4-H.

A decision about Thursday and Friday Fair activities will be made on Wednesday afternoon.

The fair held annually at North Branch Park in Bridgewater was set to return in 2024 on Aug. 7 through 9.

The Fair provides hundreds of 4-H club members an opportunity to showcase the skills that they have acquired while in 4-H through a variety of exhibits, demonstrations and competitions. The three-day Fair is the county’s largest event and attracts more than 40,000 visitors.

Somerset County was soaked on Tuesday night as heavy rain and thunderstorms moved across the area. More rain is forecasted to fall on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Flash flooding concerns will continue over the next 3 days," said US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly on Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 70. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 82. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
