Somerset County 4-H Looks To Break Guinness World Record
Somerset County 4-H members and adult volunteers are working to create the world's longest textile braid.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Somerset County 4-H members and adult volunteers are working to break a Guinness World Record by creating the world's longest textile braid.
More than 200 Somerset County 4-H members and adult volunteers have been working for the past couple of months stripping fabric and braiding sections in order to achieve this.
To qualify, the braid had to be at least 800 meters, which is a 1/2 mile. At the present time, the 4-H Textile Braid is ¾ of a mile.

The official measurement will take place at the Bridgewater Commons Mall on Sunday, May 6 at 1 p.m., in front of the Disney Store, on Level 2.
4-H members and their families will be there to help guide and protect the braid as it is unrolled. As Guinness requires, a licensed surveyor will measure the braid and a textile expert will inspect it and the County Videographer will be tracking all the activity to send in to Guinness.
